Dj Alixir 4-deck DJ set recorded live in Hardy’s 2, Hong Kong 09.14.2002
This is a special post, for an special techno DJ set. UK’s Dj Alixir has made public his 4-deck dj set recorded on live on september 14th 2002, at a club named ‘Hardys 2′ in Hong Kong.
“The gig was at Hardys II in Hong Kong,
the Wanchai district to be precise….I was playing for hkclubbing.com and my Hong Kong agent Nick Willsher (who runs HK Clubbing even today) got me the gig with a local promoter…
This club had Sven Vath play the week before me and I was the main DJ for the whole night….
I got there in 37 degree heat with 100% humidity for the sound check and had local DJs supporting me before I came on as the main act…
The one thing I didn’t know was that the promoter was part of a local Chinese Mafia outfit…
I played my 4 hour set and then came off and spoke to a few of my new fans at the back of the club who couldn’t believe I played a track as risque as French Kiss…When I played that track they all were a little shy on the dance floor but soon got in to the swing of things…The whole set was a mix of Acid House, House and a muchos Technosos…This was quite a hard to please crowd and I really had to find out what they liked and didn’t like….After I came off the decks, the promoter came over and told me that I had to go back on, that some of his friends only just turned up and they really wanted to hear me….It was around 4am and I was questioning why I needed to go back on but didn’t really mind….This was when I was informed by the promoter that the guys that turned up who wanted to hear me were a local Triad gang (Chinese Mafia) who’d heard that they’d missed an amazing set and that the promoter would be in big trouble if I didn’t go back on…..
Well…the party continued till 8am and then I had to go with the Triads to the after party to play that as well…
You never saw a DJ that was as happy as I was to find a Macdonalds serving beer after the whole night and morning was through…
The next day I played Level 27, a club on the 27th floor of a sky-scraper with amazing views of Hong Kong and set the longest record for a 3 deck techno set in Hong Kong….8 hours
